YOU CAN NOT BE A GOOD LEADER IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM OF YOUR PEOPLE.

Image
A precise note by Peter Okello Oneka LUCOROMOI For those who call themselves freedom fighters, their notion of fighting oppression is true though it's not applicable in Uganda. You people have knowledge, but I challenge you to embrace progressive ideology. We may not help our people enough if we don't know the rightful directions to take.  Firstly, you need to understand the problem of your people .The problem we have in Uganda is lack of proper leadership, more especially in local government. Our biggest problem is ignorance. You hear a voter says "if you don't give me something, I will not vote you"..... some say "let the educated vote for themselves. Our problem as a country is, Mindset, unproductiveness, corruption, tribal reasoning, opposition tendencies..... It's not necessarily oppression as some people think.   A precise note by Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong. The story of Nwoya is serious and emotional.  When I was the Special Presidentail advisor Northern Uganda, I was moved by the level of poverty in Amuru District. The Amuru leaders where against any investment. we later started lobbying Government for Nwoya District.  Nwoya became a district in 2010 with just one old pickup that our councillor then Mr. Oryema returned with from Amuru district. I was elected the area MP, Adong Lilly elected woman MP and Oryema Geoffrey elected LCV. We met and agreed to put aside all our political differences and focus at a common goal. We started mobilizing those with big land to sign contracts with investors who were being kicked out of Amuru and many of them came to Nwoya district. Machines started coming to Nwoya and Agricultural mechanization became a...

Women Emancipation Is Part And Parcel Of NRM Government

As Uganda joins the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women's day; 8th March, a day set aside to annually revamp world's commitment in attaining gender equality through out the globe, the contribution of women towards economic, political and social development is highly acknowledged and recognized. Acoli says "Gwok ma dako bene mako lee" which is literally translated as; "even a female dog catches animals", meaning a woman is as good as a man. In the olden days, women were looked at as people obligated to handle only domestic works and nothing beyond that. Women were considered not fit at all for public duty and in most African communities, they where not allowed to talk in village meetings and even have a say on such matters. Former French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte accepted the fact that women can be strong, but he asserted that they are only strong enough to seduce men. He said woman should play their roles at home as wives and mothers a...
