ACHOLI ZONAL INDUSTRIAL HUB IS A BLESSING IN THIS LAND.

Acholi Industrial Hub is one of the few standard industrial hubs installed acro

ss the country through presidential initiatives on different sectors; for skills development to empower disadvantaged youth, there is a skilling sector that targets youth 18-35 years old, but considerations are as well given to people slightly below or older than the stated age bracket. Under this sector, there are different departments which include; Carpentry, Metal fabrication, Bakery, Tailoring, Hairdressing and others running 5 months courses.

Value addition is also another sector that the hub embodies. This particular plan intends to add more value on different agricultural products like maize and coffee for export, a project that will see a number of local farmers attract better markets from within and outside the country.

Four Acres Model demonstration centre will basically help to demonstrate to the local farmers from all the districts, municipality and city in Acholi subregion. The prime goal is to train farmers on how a four acres land can earn a farmer millions of shillings annually. After learning, farmers will be able to expand to whatever manageable size of the farm.

To support different technical developments in Acholi subregion, Common Machines Users sector will be opened to member of the public, where people will be allowed to benefit from the heavy machines at the centre at low cost. These include machines for wood and metal fabrication, tiles/Stones cutting and many others.

Another beauty of Acholi Zonal Industrial Hub is that, the centre is not only teaching vocational skills, but as well giving mindset change lessons like life skills, financial management, Home management and Swahili language which has been adopted by AU as a trade language. Recently, Uganda government has also made Swahili a compulsory subject in schools.

"I call upon all leaders at different levels, to closely work with government and the administration of this great industrial hub, in order to improve on our agriculture, create jobs, boost trade hence social economic transformation" said Mr. Oyet Samuel Agwani, one of the administrators at Acholi Zonal Industrial Hub.
